About ViewGcode

A free, private toolpath viewer for 3D printing and CNC, built to answer one question: what will this file actually do?

Why it exists

G-code is just text, and a mistake in it can waste hours of print time or a block of material. Checking a file before you commit should not mean installing a slicer or uploading your design to a stranger’s server.

ViewGcode opens the file in your browser, reconstructs the path from the movement commands, and draws it so you can see what the machine is about to do.

Private by design

Your file is parsed and drawn on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and there are no accounts.

Made to inspect

2D and 3D views, layer and movement playback, and the source line behind every move.

Free and simple

No install and no sign-up. Open the page, drop a file, and look.

What you can do

  • Switch between a 2D top view and a free 3D view
  • Step through layers and the movement sequence
  • Read file statistics and the parsed toolpath bounds
  • Search the G-code source and jump to any move
  • Use 3D printing or CNC / milling profiles

What it doesn’t do

It is a viewer only. It does not edit, generate or send G-code, it never connects to a machine, and it is not a machine simulation. Treat it as a way to look, not a guarantee.

How it’s built

Parsing runs in a background Web Worker so large files stay responsive, and the toolpath is drawn with WebGL using three.js. The site itself is a small static build with no server-side code.
